Pre-requisite Level 9 Harmony or Theory III in an accredited college or university Study all triads and diatonic 7th chords, leading-tone 7th chords, dominant 9th and 13th chords, and chords derived from the melodic minor scale. Learn secondary dominants of all diatonic major and minor chords and tonal hierarchy or a phrase or period. Study harmonic procedures including descending fifths, ascending fifths, descending/ascending 5-6 sequences, and modulation to closely related keys. Required forms include sonata form, compound ternary, five-part rondo, and the fugal exposition. Complete melody lines in a specified form using the structure of an 18th century dance. Harmonize harmonic progressions and given soprano lines using four parts (SATB) maintaining the style of the given material.
