Service Description
Transpose up or down an octave including change of clef. Develop note reading skills including enharmonic equivalents, sharps, flats, naturals and transposition up or down an octave. Study and apply rhythm including whole, dotted half, half, quarter, dotted quarter, eighth, sixteenth notes, triplets (eighth notes) and rests in 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 2/8, 3/8, and 4/8 meters. Learn scales and chords (tonic, subdominant and dominant) in major and minor keys up to three sharps or flats, using both Roman numerals and lead sheet analysis. Explore harmonic and melodic intervals, major and minor, up to an octave above the tonic of required keys. Gain knowledge of musical terms and signs. Compose four measure melody lines with a given rhythm using compositional techniques. Study real music examples containing all aspects of this level and the previous levels. Study the symphony orchestra and families of orchestral instruments focusing on Benjamin Britten’s The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra and The Nutcracker by Pyotr Il’yick Tchaikovsky.
