Service Description
Develop notation skills including reading up to four ledger lines, enharmonic equivalents, transposition up or down one octave including clef changes. Study and apply rhythm including breve, dotted whole, whole, dotted half, half, quarter, dotted quarter, eighth, sixteenth notes, triplets (quarter, eighth and sixteenth notes) and rests in 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 2/8, 3/8, 4/8, 2/2, 3/2, 4/2, and 6/8 meters. Learn scales and chords (tonic, subdominant, dominant and dominant seventh) in major and minor keys up to four sharps or flats, using both Roman numerals and lead sheet analysis. Explore chromatic and diatonic half steps, harmonic and melodic intervals, major and minor, up to an octave above the tonic of required keys. Gain knowledge of musical terms and signs. Compose four measure answer phrases to a given four measure question phrase. Study real music examples containing all aspects of this level and the previous levels. Study the vocal music with an emphasis on Hallelujah Chorus from Messiah by George Frideric Handel, Queen of the night from the Magic Flute by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Over the Rainbow by Harold Arlen.
