Service Description

Pre-requisite of Level 7 or successful completion of placement exam All concepts explained below in addition to those covered in all previous levels. Develop notation skills in the alto and tenor clefs, string quartet reading and modern vocal in short and open score. Transpose a melody to any other clef and transpose orchestral instruments to concert pitch. Understand hybrid meter and application of time signatures, bar lines, notes and rests. Study all simple and compound intervals and their inversions up to a 15th above or below a given notes. Learn all major and minor scales in treble, bass, alto and tenor clefs and all diatonic modes (Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian and Locrian) starting on any pitch. Study diminished and augmented triads, root position and inversions, triads built on any scale degree, leading-tone diminished 7th chords, root position only, and dominant 7th chords root position and inversions. Identify and write authentic, half and plagal cadences in keyboard and chorale style. Learn cluster chords, quartal chords and polychords. Gain knowledge of musical terms and signs. Compose melody lines, using passing tones and neighbor tones with tonic, subdominant and dominant chords in both major and minor keys, using parallel and contrasting periods. Study real music examples containing all aspects of this level and the previous levels including types of motion: parallel, similar, contrary, oblique and static. Study the Medieval and Renaissance eras with emphasis on Ordo Virtutum by Hildegard von Bingen, Sumer Is Icumen In (anonymous), and El grill by Josquin des Prez.
